Heavenly Father, thank you Lord we praise you, we want this day to be a day of adoration and honor to you. May our life praise you: not just in thought, not just in words, but also in action. In the name of Infant Jesus we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel:

Jesus did not perform the ritual washing of hands previous to beginning the meal. Did Jesus forget or was he intentionally performing a sign to reveal something to his host? Jesus turned the table on his host by chiding him for dirt of heart. Which is more important to God - clean hands or a clean mind and heart? Jesus chided the Pharisees for harboring evil thoughts that make us unclean religiously – such as greed, pride, resentment, envy, pride, and the like. Why does he advise them, and us, to give alms? When we give freely and munificently to those in need we express love, sympathy, kindness, and mercy. And if the heart is full of love and sympathy, then there is no room for envy, greed, bitterness, and the like. Do you allow God's love to change our heart, mind, and actions toward our neighbor? Loving Infant Jesus, fill us with your love and increase our thirst for holiness. Wash our heart of all evil thought and desire and help us to act kindly and honestly and to speak generously with our neighbor.
