Meditation on
Today's Gospel: (Luke 4:16-30)
|
The word "Gospel" literally stands
for "good news". Isaiah had prophesied that the Messiah would come
in the authority of the Holy Spirit to bring freedom to those exploited by
sin and evil. Jesus came to set people free from the most evil oppression
possible - the domination of slavery to sin and the fear of death, and the devastation
of both body and soul. God's power only can save us from emptiness and lack
of spirit, from uncertainty and error, and from the fear of death and despair.
The gospel of salvation is "Good News" for us today. Do we know the
joy and liberty of the gospel?
