Twenty-First Sunday Ordinary Time

Romans 12:4-5: Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Heavenly Father, Help us, to find the place where we are supposed to fit into your body. Till then, we pledge to try all sorts of ministries so that your Spirit, and not just our own favorite, will guide us into your place for us to serve. Thank you for giving us a place to belong. In Infant Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Meditation on Today's Gospel: (John 6:60-69)
Faith is an individual response to God's exposure of himself to us. Jesus both reveals who God is and offers us a special relationship with God as our heavenly Father. Peter’s profession of faith was based on the individual relationship he had with Jesus. He not only believed that Jesus had the heavenly authority to speak on behalf of God, and the power to do signs and miracles in the name of God. Peter grasped, through the eyes of faith, that Jesus really was the Messiah, the Holy One of God. Through the gift of faith Peter came to know that Jesus was both God and man, sent into the world by the Father who loved the world very much that he gave us his only Son. Peter believed in the words which Jesus spoke, since he accepted Jesus as the Son of God and redeemer of the world. Faith is an entirely free gift of God which allows us to respond to God's word with trust since God is true and completely reliable. Faith is the key to understanding and experience God at work in our daily private lives. Do we believe, as Peter did, that Jesus can change our life as he has the words of eternal life? Ask the Lord Jesus to increase our faith and understanding of his word that you may produce in the knowledge of his love and plan for our life.
