Saturday Eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Revelation 21:2-4: I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride, beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

Prayer …

Heavenly Father, please help us as we try enduring serving you faithfully. Our desire is to be steadfast in our love and living for you until the glorious day that several of your children have longed for over the centuries. We long to see you in your glory and to share in your presence and to unite with the saints of all ages praising you around your glorious throne. Through Infant Jesus we pray. Amen.

Short Reflection on Today's Gospel (Mark 11:27-33)

To see Jesus is to see God Almighty. To hear his words is to listen to the voice of God. He is the very light of God that has power to conquer the darkness of sin, unawareness, and unbelief. God's light and truth brings healing, pardon, and change. This light is not only for the selected people of Israel, but for the whole world as well.  Jesus cautions that if we refuse his word or take it evenly, we choose to remain in sacred darkness. Jesus made it clear that he did not come to condemn us, but quite to bring abundant life and freedom from the oppression of sin, Devil, and a world different to God's way of life. We condemn ourselves when we refuse God's word of truth, life, and wisdom. It is one thing to live in unawareness due to lack of knowledge and understanding, but a different thing to disregard the very resource of truth who is Christ Jesus, the Word of God sent from the Father. Jesus says that his word – which comes from the Father and produces everlasting life in us – will be our judge. Do we believe that God's word has authority to set us free from sin and ignorance and to change our life in his way of holiness?
