James 1:2-3: Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

A mind that has single and prevailing regard to the spiritual and eternal interest, and that keeps steady of purposes for God, will grow wise by afflictions, will continue fervent in devotion, and rise above trials and oppositions. In times of trial, that patience, and not passion, is set to work in us. Whatever told or done, let be patience have the saying and do it. When the work of patience is complete. And see the glory of God come through in you, not because of luck, but because of God's grace, love, and Providence! Temptations not in the limited sense of all urements to sin, but trials and distresses of any kind which test and purify the Christian character. Some of those to whom St.James wrote were "sick," or otherwise "afflicted". Every possible trial to the child of God is a masterpiece of strategy of the Captain of his salvation for his good.

Heavenly God, through the friends you have sent into our life and by the power of your gift, the Holy Spirit, help us to stand up on trials and prove ourselves true with perseverance when under fire. Give us faith courage and endurance so that our life shows Your enduring strength. We pray in the name of Jesus who remained faithful even unto death, Infant Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
